Dolce & Gabbana - The One

Hi everyone!

I hope you all have had the loveliest Christmas. I know I did. Christmas Eve was spent with my grandparents, cousins and uncle and we had such a great time playing the Christmas gift game, eating a lot of food and goodies and just enjoying each other's company. Christmas Day was spent with my sister, brother, mother, father and boyfriend. Again lots of foods and goodies and loads of amazing Christmas gifts. I must have been really nice this year! I am not going to do a post with all my gifts, but some of my gifts might show up in posts where they are used for a review or maybe in makeup look posts. It's no secret that there was quite a lot of nice makeup because of my education starting soon and everyone wants to encourage that with what they can.

Enough of the rambling. This post is going to be about one of the gifts that I got in my stocking on Christmas Eve. The stocking is a tradition in Martin's family that he wanted to share with me, and I wasn't hard to convince. I must say that was a JACKPOT! Got a lovely gift set with a perfume from Dolce and Gabbana.

I got a tiny bottle of Dolce and Gabbana - The One to try out a while ago. I sprayed it out and Martin guessed the perfume immediately. His aunt used to work with perfumes, so he has learned quite much about them. It turned out that this is one of his all time favorites, but he has never had anyone around him to like it. He has tried with his sister and his mother, but they turned it down. I, how ever liked it a lot from moment the first drops touched my wrist joint.

It has top notes are from citrus, bergamot and mandarin, a heart of litchi and peach and a base of plum, vanilla and musk. The scent is described as oriental and modern with a strong personality, and I think that is a perfect way to describe it. It's a quite strong and grown up scent that is great for fall and winter. For me it would be to heavy for spring and summer, when I prefer a much lighter and sweeter perfume. Over all I'm crazy about the perfume and I know for sure I will be using this a lot in the future. Also, the packaging of the box is lovely. Just look at the pictures below!

A lovely box in a nice golden colour, with a silver bow.

Opening up the box you find a black tissue paper with golden print
for a very luxurious touch.

The bottle is very simple, but elegant and this gift box included
a matching body lotion

Have you tried The One from Dolce and Gabbanna? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Jelly Pong Pong - Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara

Hey!

In my last Glossybox I got the Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara. I hadn't heard about the brand before, so I was excited to try it out.

The packaging is not so much fun. It looks a lot cheaper than it's said to be. But it's what's inside that really counts. Unfortunately it's not a WOW-experience, but it's not bad either.

It takes a little too long for the mascara to dry, so it has smudged over the eye shadow a few times. All though I've learned my technique to apply it now, so it's not much of an issue. I haven't experienced any smudging throughout the day though, which I find is most important. It's very easy to remove, even though it's a waterproof mascara. Also a big plus!

I don't think it adds much volume, but it does give a nice length and separation. With a bit of eyeliner (as seen on picture) I think it works just fine for everyday use, but for a party makeup I would stick to my Maybelline Falsies or Diorshow that are my all time favorites. I'm blessed with quite long lashes, but they are very light at the tips, so pretty much any mascara can do what this one does for me.

I will defiantly keep using the mascara till it's all out, but I'm not sure I would buy it again. I think I need a bit more to be convinced to pay £18 for a mascara.

Makeup Academy - Undressed

Hi there!

When me and my sister were in London in June I picked up an eye shadow palette from Makeup Academy. Since I spend quite a lot of time at M's apartment I felt like I needed some basics to leave there, so I don't need to bring the big makeup bag every time I go there. Since it was only £4 I thought it would be worth to give it a try, and not spend a whole lot of money on buying duplicates. And was I impressed? HELL YEAH!

I chose the Undressed palette, with 12 different shade from a light beige to dark brown and grey, some matte and some with shimmer. I thought it was a perfect combination for a basic collection. It's well pigmented and easy to blend. I like that I don't have to work forever to get it to look nice. I like to sleep in in the mornings, so big plus! First time I used it I was a bit stressed and didn't find my primer, so I worked it directly on to my eyelids. When I got home from work about 12 hours later it looked like it was just put on.  Another great plus is that it didn't irritate my eyelids. I can be quite sensitive, and might get a little itchy when I use eye shadow. None of that with this one! The only regret I have is that I only got one, and not the other palettes as well.

I would highly recommend this product if you're looking for a good palette that doesn't burn holes in your wallet.

Diorshow

As you may, or may not, know I work next to a cosmetics store. It do happen that I get some samples when I shop there, so when I bought my mother a Christmas gift I got the Diorshow mascare, from Dior obviously. I put it away and forgot about it until I bought some new furniture this weekend and started to rearrange my make up. I decided to try it. I fell in love.

I like to collect things, and have loads of everything. Therefor I tend to buy cheaper things, so I can buy many of them. I think I might rethink that when it comes to mascaras. This was so easy to apply! The brush is quite big, but separates really nicely and I don't find it hard to handle at all. The lashes didn't get stuck in each other, not even when I put on an extra layer for more volume. There were no lumps, not even a hint of one. I'm not saying I've only used horrible mascaras, even if it sure sounds like it. I'm just so in love with this one I have to make everyone seem a little bit worse, to make this sound amazing.

I'm trying to save up money for the trip to London, so I really shouldn't buy this anytime soon. I'm not so sure I'll be able to keep that though. Hopefully this little sample will last for at least a little while.

Testing: Avéne

I have a friend that works on a pharmacy, which is quite a good thing. Last time she was here to visit she gave me some products she had been given to test. They were both for dry and very sensitive skin. Since she have neither of that she said that the best way for her to evaluate them was to give them to someone that they could do some difference on. (In this case, ME!) So, I was asked to try them at let her know what I think. Of course I was happy to say yes to that.

I've been trying XeraCalm a.d Body Lotion and Tolérance extême Cleansing Lotion

0% Preservative, 0% Paraben, 0% Fragrance, 0% Alcohol

Sounds quite good, doesn't it? The cap is specially designed, so it's impossible for bacteria to get into the tubes. Therefor they can exclude some ingredients that is good for the cream, but maybe best for your skin to skip if possible.

I was given these creams last week, and immediately gave it a try. The body lotion is okay for both body and face, and since I've been having some really dry spots in my face lately I thought it would be perfect to start there. Hands and face are also where my skin is most sensitive and I most easily get rashes.

I thought I would have to use at least the whole tubes before I could notice any big difference, but that wasn't necessary (obviously, since I'm already writing this post). The cleanser is really effective and I haven't had any trouble with rashes or irritation this time, which I easily get from cleansers. The dry spots is as good as gone already. The only thing that I find a bit boring is that they doesn't smell anything, but on the other hand, they are hypoallergenic and you can't always have it all! I will keep using the products, and it's possible that I buy new ones once these are empty.

Na Na Nail polish

The Na Na Nail Polish was the cheapest brand of the polishes I bought in Thailand. This was only 19 baht, which is close to nothing compared to Swedish budget prices. My expectations for this was never really high, I just went for some cool colors to try it out. The Sheene polish that I showed a few days ago was really impressive though (price 30 baht), so now I hope this one can be as well. The Sheene lasted for five days, and I could have worn it for at least one or two more days if I wasn't so eager to try the other ones that I got.

First impression of Na Na is good. Two layers made good coverage and it dried quickly. Time will tell how long it lasts. As usual I used it with China Glaze First & Last coat.

Holographic

Hi there!

Tonight I will show you another nail polish in my collection. This is my newest one, and I love it, the Isadora Holographic! It sparkles really nicely and you get a nice texture. The first time I wore it I could have it for five days straight without chipping. That's really good considering how much I use my hands at work, with unpacking, getting clothes on hangers and so on. Thumbs up for the hold!

Further on I love the look. And not just me. I get a lot of compliments from both colleagues, friends and even costumers. I was talking to a girl at the cash disk while I was wrapping up her things, and she just grabbed my hand starting to feel the nails. She told me they were gorgeous and asked me where I get them done. She practically ran out from our store when I told her it was just nail polish and that she could buy it just next door.

The only thing that isn't 100% is that it's quite hard to get it to cover the nails as much as I want. The glitter gets stuck on the brush quite easily and won't apply to your nail. With some practise and stubbornness it is possible though, an since it lasts that long I think it's totally worth it.

A parcel from the States

Hi again,

When I got home today there was a parcel waiting for me outside the door. As I may have mentioned in a previous post, I work in a store that sells underwear. It's easy to get your favorites, but in a small country as Sweden the range of products isn't as large as if you give a look to the west. When I found some of my absolute favorites in colors that is not available here, me and my colleagues had to try them out and today they were delivered.

Two of my favorite brands are Calvin Klein and Elle MacPherson Intimates. If you, like me, need a quite small size around the back but a larger cup EMI is top notch. Before I came across EMI i thought that these sizes were only made in practical and basic garments. Now I can get a steady and comfortable bra, with gorgeous designs and other colors than white, black and beige!

Calvin Klein is not to think about if you have a fuller bust, but the Bottoms Up hipsters are to die for. They are very comfy and have no thick seams so there won't be much visible lines under tight pieces of clothing. Not to mention the AWESOME colors, new ones to arrive all the time. The colors I found this time is so me, so I just couldn't leave the page without making sure I  got some in the shopping trolley.

China Glaze

I love nail polish! I think it's a great touch to an outfit and show some extra effort. Also it's great when you need to relax, since you give yourself a reason to just sit down for a few minutes while you wait for the polish to dry.

One of my favorit brands is China Glaze. Usually I can wear them for a few days before they begin to chip. I use the China Glaze First & Last base and top coat. It gives a nice shiny look and some extra hold to the polish. Right now I'm wearing a bright pink colour, inspired by the fact that I'm of to Thailand soon and almost can feel the summer already. The name of the shade, Escaping Reality, says alot about what I'm feeling right now as well.
