Glossybox August

Aloha!

I got a new Glossybox the other day, and I must say I was really happy with the content this time. Since they were celebrating their birthday it was a more generous box than usual, and I'm not complaining.

Jelly Pong Pong Mascara - For me this is completely new. I've never heard about the brand before, so I'm excited to try. It's a bit more expensive than mascaras I usually buy myself so I hope it's good for that as well!

Model Co Bronzing Powder - Also a brand I haven't tried before. Since I do have a few bronzing powders before I love the small package since it's a perfect size for the handbag.

Anatomicals Face Mask - Deep cleansing and matting effect. Got one from the same brand in another box and was happy whit that. Hopefully this one will be as good.

The Body Shop Body Butter "Wild Argan Oil" - I LOVE body butters from The Body Shop and have several of them at home. This new one really smells like something I would buy myself. I like that it's not as fruity as most of the ones I have at home. This one feels more like fall.

Makiash Lipcolour Pen - A new Swedish brand! And I must say LOVE LOVE LOVE. The colour is lovely, high pigmented and shiny. (Also like the fact that the name of my town is on the pen) I will use this one a lot this fall, and I will most defiantly check out their website for more products.

BONUSES:

Thierry Mugler EdT "Angel" - I like bonuses, and I like the opportunity to try a perfume a few times before I buy it. This one is described to smell like chocolate, vanilla, mandarin and honey. I must honestly say that if I just smelled this by the bottle in a store I would put it back and walk away quickly. It didn't speak to me at all. But I had already sprayed the test to my hand, and it is starting to grow on me. I will give that little test bottle a real try, with the right clothes and the right mood. Not to PJ's and cozy alone time by the laptop.

Fleur de Santé Precious Skin Boost Anti-Aging Day Cream - I don't think that the little test bag in this box will make any miracles, so I will probably not buy the whole thing from this. But the description says it contains rose quartz, and that sounds quite cool so I might at least read a bit more about it in the magazine.

That was all for today! See you again soon!

Yesterday's shopping

Woke up 6:02 this morning, trying to turn off my alarm clock. Turned out it wasn't the alarm, but the phone ringing. My boss called telling me she was sick and asked me to start working earlier. I said good bye to my short day and went in for the longest day possible, opening till closing. I also get to go in a few hours earlier tomorrow. But the work I do now will pay off before I go to London and that thought makes it a lot easier. And besides, I do like my job so even if it's a lot right now, I do have a lot of fun doing it as well.

As promised, pictures of some of the shopping I did yesterday. The clothes didn't look as good on a hanger, so they might show up on outfit posts in the future.

Can't just pass Lush without a visit. I've wanted to try the lip scrub for a while to see if it's worth the hype. Also found a T for toes, which I think might be good since I wear shoes for hours every day. It's supposed to be good for abrasions and with new shoes I hope that will be helpful.

A friend to my sister has the luxury to work at Lush and treated us with a test on the cleanser Let the good times roll. The look and the smell makes it feel like you scrub your face with cookie dough. Leaves the skin nice and smooth!

This Saturday I went to a dinner with my friend who's moving now. While I was waiting for her I stopped by a store and fell in love with this bag. Yesterday when I got back to have a second look at it they had 10% off. Not much, but I chose to see it as a sign and that we were meant to be.

Got some essentials with nail polish remover, cleanser and a base coat from IsaDora. I also had to try their new gel lacquer, which I'm very excited to try. That was a project for this morning, but I never really got the time. I'll save it for tomorrow night.

Last but not least, two pairs of shoes. Think they both will be good for work, since they don't have high heels, but still aren't completely flat. Also I wanted something comfortable without and still a bit classy looking. The shoes at the bottom seemed perfect for that! The sandals were mostly because they had an offer to buy one pair and get the second pair for half price. I really do like the wedge heel because that makes them nice to walk in and would be good at work as well, now that the spring and summer is approaching.

That's it for tonight. Hope to be able to catch up on all the blogs I've missed tomorrow!

First order from Feel Unique

A good thing about living in Europe is that you can order from companies in EU without paying extra duty fees (something you always have to be prepared for if you order from outside EU). About two weeks ago I placed an order from Feel Unique, since they are from the UK I didn't think twice about it. What I didn't know is that the Channel Islands are not included in this tax area (or whatever they call it) and that Feel Unique sends their orders from one of these islands. It was a not so pleasant surprise to get that yellow letter in the mail box telling me I had a parcel to pick up, among with a bill for tax and service charge. I paid less than 300 SEK ($46, £28) for my order, and the bill was for another 174 SEK ($27, £16). On top of this I got an e-mail saying they had 25% off the items I had ordered, just the day after I got the confirmation of dispatched order. I sure hope the products are worth the extra money!

The things I ordered was from Tanya Burr's lips and nails. Two lip glosses and a nail polish for me, and a nail polish for my sister. I'm really excited to try these, since I've heard so much good about them. Besides I think Tanya is so lovely I would have needed to try them even if the reviews weren't so good. I will write my own thoughts about them as soon as I've had time to try them properly. Soon it's time to run off to work again. Just today and tomorrow left before I'll have a few days off. Can't wait!

Just to be clear, I'm not in any way dissatisfied with the service from Feel Unique, just the fact that I was so unlucky in this case. All though I think it would be great if they stated their location a bit clearer in the shipping details. I can not be the only one who has experienced this.

New to my fragrance collection

Hey guys!

The sun is shining brightly, and I'm soon about to go to work again. For not being supposed to work full time it feels like I do nothing but work at the moment. But tomorrow, finally, I have a day off and as that wasn't enough the football season starts as well! Feels like I've been waiting forever for that!

Yesterday I got the opportunity to buy some perfumes for half price of the store price. That's something I love, but tend to not buy since they are quite expensive. I fell for three smells that I brought home. (Unfortunately one of them wasn't the same as the one I was smelling in the store, but when I got over the disappointment I grew to like the one I got as well. Lesson learned; Look at the bottle and not just at the box the bottle's in when you smell a test.)

Downtown from Calvin Klein -  I actually tried this one in store a couple of weeks ago. I liked it, but decided to walk around in it for a couple of hours to see if I would feel comfortable in it (which I always do if I'm about to pay full price for a perfume). I did love it, but the shopping spree took another turn and we never got back to the store again. I've been looking for it since! (It must be faith that brought it to me to a much lower price)

The perfume is described sophisticated and feminine, with a confident edge. I could buy that perfume from just that description.

Notes: Neroli Tunisia, Fresh Green Pear, Watery Plum, Gardenia Petals, Pink Peppercorn, Violet Leaf, Texan Cedarwood, Vetiver, Benzoin Laos Orpur, Musks

Si from Gioirgio Armani - My all time favorite perfume (so far) is Diamonds from Armani. I still do have some of that left, but want to buy a new one. They didn't have that one where I got these perfumes, but my attention was instantly drawn to others from the same brand. I fell for this one and asked my mother to smell it. The reaction was instant: "Take it! It smells like you" Said and done, the perfume went into the basket.

When I was googeling this perfume to find out how it's described I noticed that the opinions on this one seems to bee really different! Some really hates it, some loves it. I guess it's one of those fragrances that actually comes off really different depending on the person wearing it.

The descriptions I found tends to relate it as an irresistible combination of grace, strength and independent spirit.

Notes: Blackcurrant nectar, modern chypre and blond wood musk with freesia and May rose.

Pure DKNY - This was the smell I think I got wrong. When I came home it smelled a lot like rose, and that is not a smell I'm usually really comfortable wearing. Too flowery scents just doesn't feel like me. Since I wasn't going anywhere I decided to try it on and see what it was like. Maybe I could figure out who to give it to... But I grew to like it and think it will be a nice fragrance for summer.

This one is described as straight forward but soft, sober and easy. A wonderful garden rose, without the heaviness of the garden rose. This is sounds like a pretty good explanation of why I like it even though it's not what I normally falls for.

Notes: Turkish rose, blackcurrant, magnolia, cedar, verbena and vanilla

Have you ever used any of these fragrances? Do you like them?

Diorshow

As you may, or may not, know I work next to a cosmetics store. It do happen that I get some samples when I shop there, so when I bought my mother a Christmas gift I got the Diorshow mascare, from Dior obviously. I put it away and forgot about it until I bought some new furniture this weekend and started to rearrange my make up. I decided to try it. I fell in love.

I like to collect things, and have loads of everything. Therefor I tend to buy cheaper things, so I can buy many of them. I think I might rethink that when it comes to mascaras. This was so easy to apply! The brush is quite big, but separates really nicely and I don't find it hard to handle at all. The lashes didn't get stuck in each other, not even when I put on an extra layer for more volume. There were no lumps, not even a hint of one. I'm not saying I've only used horrible mascaras, even if it sure sounds like it. I'm just so in love with this one I have to make everyone seem a little bit worse, to make this sound amazing.

I'm trying to save up money for the trip to London, so I really shouldn't buy this anytime soon. I'm not so sure I'll be able to keep that though. Hopefully this little sample will last for at least a little while.

New in - Rituals

Hey!

As I mentioned in the previous  post I didn't just buy shoes the other day. I found a few more things than that, most of them in one of my favorite stores at the moment - Rituals. They opened up at our shopping center i November last year, so they are quite new to the team. First thing I love about Rituals is that you always feel so special when you're in there. The employees are really helpful and you get offered a cup of tea when you get in. If you let them help you with what products to buy they always offer to show and demonstrate them. This time they demonstrated a salt scrub and followed up with a nice body cream. Them gently scrubbing my hand while I was drinking a cup of tea felt like a tiny spa treatment before work.

I ended up with quite a big bag when I left the store, and products worth a lot more than I payed. This month our shopping center has collected offers from almost every store into an app. At Rituals you could get three items and pay for two.

I have used their fragrance sticks since the beginning of December, and I really love the fresh and clean smell. I bought the mini version, and it was starting to run low now. Since I had the great offer I decided to buy the big refill bottle. I'll probably last all year with this one! I use the Lotus Secret with scent of white lotus and Yi Yi Ren

I have one of their salt scrubs already, but I really like it and thought that this was a great opportunity to stock up with one more. This time I went for Himalaya Wisdome with Holy Basil and Organic Fresh Mint. With that one I went for the Honey Touch Body Cream with Indian Rose and Himalaya Honey. This was the products she used on my hand and it smelled amazing all day and the hand got so soft. (The body cream was the product I got for free in the 3 for 2 offer)

Since I was buying other stuff I was offered to buy the Hammam Olive Secret Shower Paste with Refreshing Eucalyptus and Organic Olive to a reduced price. I already have the salt scrub in that series so I thought they would be good to use together.

If you bought other things for over 400 SEK ($62 or £38) you got the Happy Mist for free. I did buy that much, so I did get the mist for free. It's a fragrance mist is a light bed and body mist, so you can use it for pretty much everything since it doesn't leave stains. So far I've only used to spray on the bed, and it smells heavenly on the pillows.

Have you ever tried any of Rituals products? What are your thoughts!

Kicks Sugar Lacquer

One of Sweden's biggest cosmetic companies has a store right next to where I work. Not surprising that I end up paying them a visit if I have some spare time on a break.

As you may have noticed I'm a big fan of Isadora's Sugar Nails collections. At least my boss has. The other day she asked me if it was the Kicks Sugar Lacquer I used. Guess you know the rest. I had to run in there.

Somehow I had missed that they made these kind of polishes in their own brand. Quite hard to see though since you can't really see the texture from the bottle. Guess I hadn't read the text carefully enough.

Of course I had to try one of them, and my pick fell on a beige one. Even tough I love colors, that's not always the most wearable ones to my clothes. Therefor I was really happy to find a neutral polish with texture. Also like the fact that is a local brand.

Isn't it lovely?

Xantier nail polish

The last brand of nail polish that I got in Thailand was Xantier. I got a few colours of every brand, but most of them were really summery and will probably have to wait in that cute cabin for yet a few weeks. With this one I have tried all the brands though, with was my first priority.

Love the colour of this one. It's good for spring, but it's not too much colour, which is a good option for work. Two coats made the trick and I think it looks really beautiful. Both the other brands lasted quite long, so I really look forward to see how this works out.

Hopeful Kiss

I was surfing around the internet, with hopes on finding some interesting blogs to read and follow. I ran into a blog filled with beautiful lipsticks. Just couldn't help myself from sticking around for a bit.

At the moment Galaxia is having a giveaway, which I totally think you should check out. I, myself, would be very happy to win this since I love trying new brands. I haven't tried UD yet, and the drugstore lipsticks I've never seen around here!

A nice surprise

When I got home from work today I went into the kitchen, as I always do. My brother was standing by the table, which isn't very common but yet not very remarkable. What was very surprising though was what he said when I got in.

"I've got a gift for you."

"What? What is it? And how come?" I asked, quite chocked.

"No special reason. I got a panting for Fia and this for you" (Fia is our younger sister)

Two Body Butters and some bubble bath. Such a sweet thing of him to do! Totally made my day!

Inspired by spring

Hey there!

Today spring came to Sweden! Or at least a taste of it. The sun was shining and it wasn't terribly cold outside. The clothes in all black that I had picked out for today felt in no way right, so I ran down to my closet and found a nice green tank top that I haven't worn since last summer. The floral necklace that I found on Topshop yesterday fit perfectly together with the feeling of spring inside me.

For makeup I was inspired by Tanya Burr's spring makeup tutorial, with bronzer and highligter as eye shadow. The picture doesn't show the nice shimmer (will try to capture that better next time I go for this look), but I totally fell in love with this so I will probably do this a lot this spring.

Shenne Nail polish

Hi there!

Tried one of the polishes I bought in Thailand. I really like the colour. I pained two coats as always and I found the coverage very good. I used my China Glaze base & coat and I can't complain about the hold. Considering the price of 60 Baht for two I'm very satisfied with this one. Almost wish I bought one more bottle of the exact same colour. I will have to use it carefully so I don't run out to quickly!

Thailand Shopping

Hey there!

So as you may have figured I did quite a lot of shopping in Thailand. I decided to make two Youtube-hauls, one for beauty products and one for clothes, shoes and such. I couldn't show everything there, so I'm making this blog post as wall to show you everything else. What's posted here is not in the videos and the things in the videos are not shown here, so make sure to watch all of them if you want to see everything.

I will make a post with links to the hauls as soon as they are uploaded on Youtube.

The Family tree

One of the days me and my sister went strolling a bit. I don't really know what made me see it, but there was a tiny store that caught my eye. It was called The Family Tree. (Which felt special since we were in Thailand to visit our relatives) I told my sister I wanted to have a look inside so we went in. Inside we found every thing from soaps to jewelry and mugs. We met an old lady, and an Englishman. The Englishman told us that everything in the store was handmade from local produced raw materials. Parts of the profits made along with donations from costumers were used to plant trees to help the environment.

We found some soaps that smelled really nice and smelled them  all. The Englishman approached us again, this time with a story about the soaps. These were made of three women that lost their homes and everything they owned in a big fire. They were taught how to make soaps and sell them to earn money to get back on track with their lives again. This story really touched me so I was happy to buy both soaps and a salt scrub from them. I paid a total of 500 baht, including a small donation for the tree planting.

Vitamin E Lip Care from The Body Shop

Since we're having a night at the hotel tonight (sis is feeling sick) I decided to make a post about my lip savior, that's great to have here as well!

In the winter my lips gets really dry and chapped. It didn't matter how much I smeared with different lip care, nothing worked.  Last winter I ran into Body Shop (which I do a lot, since I work just right next to them). I've gotten to know one of the girls working there so I pointed at my lips and said "Please tell me you have a miracle treatment to save this?!" She smiled, turned around and picked up the Vitamin E Lip care. And a miracle it was! I used it during the day and before I went to bed. When I woke up I noticed a big difference already and it didn't take long before my lips were nice and soft again. Since then I always have one in my bag.

The winter weather made me come across this product, but it comes to good use here in sunny Thailand as well. The lip balm has SPF 15, and keeps my lips protected from the very strong sun here. My skin is damaged, but at least my lips are in good condition.

First day of shopping

Hi there!

Today was the first day of shopping for me and sis here in Hua hin. We went to the Market Village. We had lunch there yesterday, so we knew there were some things we wanted to have a look at. Before we went I had head that Thailand is cheap, but that things have become more expensive the past few years, so my expectations was cheap, but not too extremely cheap. But it's insane! A few times we asked each other "Is this really right?" and some times we even asked for the price on marked things because we didn't really believe in the price tag.

This is a sneak peek of today's shopping. I plan to do a summary, either in a blog post or as a Youtube video, when I get back home. So stay tuned if you want to see everything close up and know the prices (as far as I can remember then).

Feeling like a queen

Sawatii ka!

We got up quite early and got a really nice hotel breakfast. We had read some bad reviews from people not liking the buffet, so I said that I was happy with some toast and fresh fruit. When we came down to the restaurant there was every thing you could possible want. Fired rice, noodles, chicken soup, bacon, yogurt, cereals, different kinds of bread, fresh fruits and vegetables, juices... And two girls stand behind a stove and cooked eggs of your choice (scrambled, fried...) Double thumbs up for  that!

After breakfast it was time to check out the beach. Hua hin doesn't really have the paradise beaches as Thailand is known for, but it's great anyway! On the beach there are lot of salesmen (and women) wandering around, trying to sell their stuff and services. We spoiled ourselves with some manicure and pedicure. The woman doing it was really good at her thing and really friendly. While she was doing my hands she at one point touched my thigh and said: "White! Very white... Beautiful!" Can't really say I'm white anymore. More like red. The sun is very aggressive, even though we try to sit in the shadow as much as possible.

After the beach we took a shower and went to try a massage. I went for the oil massage, since I know that the Thai massage is kind of hard-handed. The oil massage was wonderful! One hour, full body massage, for just 400 Baht. And the girl doing it was fantastic! Will probably go back and ask for her again. I'm feeling like a queen with all these treatments and the kind people.

Tomorrow me and my sister will probably have a shopping and pool day. I don't want to expose my skin to much to the sun yet, so I don't think the beach is  the best idea at the moment. Will give that a new chance when I'm not as red.

Hopefully I'll be able to upload some pictures tomorrow.

See you soon!

Holographic

Hi there!

Tonight I will show you another nail polish in my collection. This is my newest one, and I love it, the Isadora Holographic! It sparkles really nicely and you get a nice texture. The first time I wore it I could have it for five days straight without chipping. That's really good considering how much I use my hands at work, with unpacking, getting clothes on hangers and so on. Thumbs up for the hold!

Further on I love the look. And not just me. I get a lot of compliments from both colleagues, friends and even costumers. I was talking to a girl at the cash disk while I was wrapping up her things, and she just grabbed my hand starting to feel the nails. She told me they were gorgeous and asked me where I get them done. She practically ran out from our store when I told her it was just nail polish and that she could buy it just next door.

The only thing that isn't 100% is that it's quite hard to get it to cover the nails as much as I want. The glitter gets stuck on the brush quite easily and won't apply to your nail. With some practise and stubbornness it is possible though, an since it lasts that long I think it's totally worth it.

Sister time and me time

Today my plan was to run some errands, so I took my sister by the hand and jumped on a bus into town. I forgot most of the things I was supposed to do, but at least I got an HDMI cable to my camera. Most importantly I got some quality with Fia and we got to eat sushi at one of our favorite places. Such an easy thing to do to make the whole day feel awesome.

Back at home I decided to take some time to myself and have mini-spa. I used some of my favorite products for this. Facial mask from The Body Shop, Macadamia Hair Mask, body scrub from Rituals and bath melt from Lush. Not shown in the picture is my oil therapy skin treatment from Biotherm. When you have the time to spoil yourself a little you probably deserve some snack as well. For me coke, Djungelvrål (also known as "the swedish death candy") and a Swedish chocolate ball was right on what I wanted today.

I hadn't tried this bath melt from Lush before today, but I really liked it. Luckily I bought two, because it was a Christmas special so it's not in store anymore. Will keep the other one for a day when I really feel like glowing. I can promise you my whole body is shimmering in silver!

The other products will most likely get their own posts in the future.

Sugar crush

I'm going to show you one of my favourite beauty products, all time! The Isadora's Sugar Crush nail polish. I love the matt, yet sparkly effect. Wearing this I often get compliments from costumers in the store. On the picutre I'm using the colour 108 Wine crush. This goes along well with most of the clothes in my closet right now. It's a sober colour that tones all the glitter down a bit. For a "wine" colour I could wish for a slightly more red tone, but I'm still loving it.
